From poison pen letters to duct-taped dogs to ghosts and naked runners, this little book of cocktails pretty much hits the nail on the head with the perfect nip for every occasion.

Cocktails to Die For
BLOODY MARY
The perfect concoction to drink when solving a murder!
1½ oz. gin or vodka
3 to 4 ice cubes
6 oz. tomato juice
Dash of Celery Salt
Good splash of Worcestershire Sauce
Decent shake of Hot Sauce
½ tsp. Lemon juice
Mix well. Garnish with celery stalk or lime wedge.
CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL
Always appropriate when celebrating not being killed by a knife-wielding psycho!
Soak 1 sugar cube in Angostura bitters.
Put in bottom of champagne flute.
Slowly fill with chilled champagne.
Garnish with lemon twist.
COSMOPOLITAN
Nothing takes the edge off Thanksgiving with your loony mother like a Cosmo!
1½ ounces Smirnoff Vodka (Daisy and Rose drink nothing else)
½ ounce Triple Sec
1½ ounces Cranberry Juice Cocktail
6 ice cubes
Shake well and strain into martini glass.
Rose’s CRANBERRY CORDIAL
It may taste a little like cough syrup, but it makes a lovely visual.
1(16 oz.) package fresh cranberries, coarsely chopped
3 cups sugar
2 cups gin
Place cranberries into a ½ gallon screw top jar.
Add sugar and gin. Cover with lid. Store in a cool place. Invert daily for three weeks. Strain into a decorative jar. This makes a lovely gift.
Daisy’s MARGARITAS
When your dog’s being indelicate with your ex’s leg and his new amour is glaring at you, it’s time for a little Tequila
½ oz. Triple Sec
½ oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz. Tequila
1 T. powdered sugar
Ice
Salt the rim of a margarita or cocktail glass with coarse salt, if desired.
Shake well and strain into said margarita or cocktail glass.
Angela’s POMEGRANATE POINSETTIA
What’s Christmas without a little cheer? Even the dog likes this tasty cocktail.
1 oz. Pomegranate Liqueur
1 oz. Triple Sec
1 oz. orange juice
3 oz. Champagne
Mix the first three ingredients in a tumbler with ice.
Slowly add the Champagne, stirring gently.
Strain into a Champagne flute.
SNEAKY PETE
Perfect pick-me-up after a little recreational “opening and entering”!
1 oz. bourbon or rye whiskey
1 oz. Kahlua or Tia Maria
4 oz. milk
Mix together and pour into an old-fashioned cocktail glass. Add 4 ice cubes.
VODKA TONIC
The “go-to” cocktail for any occasion – murder, mayhem, B&E
Pour into an old-fashioned cocktail glass:
1½ ounces Smirnoff Vodka
Juice of ¼ lime
½ tsp. sugar (optional)
Add 5 ice cubes
Top with tonic water
Give a stir and enjoy.
PEARL HARBOR
The perfect little cocktail to get you bombed!
3/4 oz. Vodka
3/4 oz. Melon Liqueur
Pineapple juice
Pour liquor into Collins glass half filled with ice.
Fill with pineapple juice.
Garnish with Maraschino cherries, stems attached.
MAI TAI
When it’s hot and your sister’s being way too nosy, it’s time for a very fancy drink.
1/2 oz. spiced rum
1/2 oz. white rum
1/2 oz. creme de almond
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
2 1/2 oz. orange juice
2 1/2 oz. pineapple juice
Splash of lime juice
Mix and pour liquor into Collins glass half filled with ice.
Garnish with fruit slice and a little umbrella.
MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
A lovely pink concoction for the after-burglary debrief
5 fresh strawberries, crushed
1 tsp. strawberry liqueur
1 oz. cherry brandy
2 oz. vodka
Tonic
Put all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake well.
Pour into a tall glass and fill with tonic. Garnish with a strawberry.
FIRE CRACKER
A little pick-me-up when the dog house catches fire
Pour over 5 ice cubes in an old fashioned glass:
2 oz. dark rum
1/2 oz. Sloe gin
Fill with orange juice
Top with a splash of Bacardi 151 Rum
Garnish with an orange slice
FROZEN CONCOCTION
Just the thing when the dog’s been duct-taped and you’ve been conked on the head
6 oz. can of frozen limeade
6 oz. rum
3 oz. Triple Sec
12 oz. water
Ice
Mix in a blender until slushy. Serve in a tall glass with a cherry.
DAIQUIRI
First date? A little nervous? Let Angela fix you right up
1 jigger light rum
1 oz. lime juice
1 tsp. confectioner’s sugar
Shake ingredients with shaved ice, strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.
Garnish with a lime slice.
GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME
The name says it all!
1 1/2 oz. vodka
Juice of 1/8 lemon
3/4 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix* (homemade or purchased)
3 oz. soda water
1 tsp. confectioner’s sugar
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into an ice-filled Collins glass. Garnish with orange slice, lime slice and a cherry.
* Sweet & Sour Mix – Bring to boil 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar, just until sugar is dissolved. Take off heat and add 1 cup lemon juice and 1 cup lime juice. Mix and refrigerate.
SANGRIA
It’s been a long day and you’re a little down. Cheer up with some wine-lace fruit!
1 bottle of good white wine
1/2 cup Vodka
1/2 cup white grape juice
1/2 cup sliced seedless grapes
1 green apple, sliced
1/2 pineapple, sliced
2 cups ginger ale
Pour wine and Vodka into a pitcher and add the fruit. Chill at least 1 hour. Add ginger ale just before serving.
MIDNIGHT MARAUDER
Planing a late night escapade? Before you set out, enjoy a little liquid courage
2 oz. Vodka
6 oz. orange juice
Splash of cream soda
Mix and serve over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with a cherry.
HURRICANE
When the wind is howling and a psycho comes knocking, drink up!
1 oz. light rum
1 oz. dark rum
2 oz. passion fruit juice
1 oz. orange juice
1/2 oz. grenadine
A squeeze of lime juice
Shake and pour into Collins glass full of ice.
NAKED RUNNER
The perfect evening – Pictionary, good friends, and gin!
2 oz. gin
2 oz. coconut rum
2 oz. cranberry juice
2 oz. pineapple juice
Splash of ginger ale
Mix well. Serve in a tall glass and garnish with melon balls.
